2. ODC 5.16 Definitions

3. C method of classification practice with client data

4. Four minutes per defect in retrospective mode, attained

5. Case studies, analysis examples

6. Core ODC applications (RCA, Test Effectiveness, etc. )

7. Class Pilot categorized, analyzed and reviewed

8. ODC roll-out implementation discussions

Audience:

This course is for the practicing engineer in a development organization. It is designed for those who come directly in contact with defects and the change management system. Typically, candidates are engineers in software development,

test, requirements management and service.

Training:

The class assumes no prior knowledge or experience with ODC. It is designed so that an engineer understands ODC concepts and gains skills and speed in classification. Students are also prepared to participate in ODC feedback sessions and partake in root cause analysis using ODC.

The class is structured as a combination of lecture, multiple interactive work sessions and discussions. Each students must bring to the class between 5 and 10 defects that they are familiar with.

The class is structured as a combination of lecture, multiple interactive work sessions and discussions. Each students must bring to the class between 5 and 10 defects that they are familiar with.

The figure below illustrates an example organization of the schedules. These are typically determined by discussions with the client to customize the flow, availability of time and people resources. Adjustments for the time will also factor in sequential translations as we have do in China, Japan and Israel. Responsibility for sequential translation is by the client. Very often, an engineer on the team can provide this service and make that a part of the discussion, since these technical topics have plenty of discussion.

The ODC Workshop has concepts, training and practice with one's own data. Students gain an excellent grasp of ODC – what it is and what it is not. Typical achievement is to ODCfy a defect, in retrospective mode is less than 4 minutes. Have a good appreciation of one or two applications of ODC and be able to join an ODC deep dive team.

The training is performed, on-site with face to face instruction. Since, these days there is very often a remote work location, we can conference in a few participants from other locations. Having a core group in the face to face meetings is advantageous to the team.

The figure above illustrates one of the course schedule organizations – where the course includes a class-pilot that is performed towards the end of the workshop, and the results reported on the following Monday.

In cases, when a workshop is followed by a “Starter Pilot” the class pilot may not be completed, but rolled into the Starter Pilot, which is often of a much larger scope. Starter Pilots usually run for a duration in the range of 3 weeks, and the results re reported after that period
